1. Why seek therapy?
The reasons are wide, varied, and numerous for people to seek therapy.
Some people are having difficulty in dealing with transitions
and unexpected changes in their life through individual, famliy
or group environments. Others might be looking for ways to explore
their own potential for personal growth. Therapy can support
you by developing problem solving approaches, focusing on coping
skills, and exploration of your own strengths.
2. What can I expect in a therapy session?
You can expect to talk about primay concerns and issues in your
life. You can expect an idividualized and collaborative approach
to what we talk about and how we work on these issues.
3. What benefits can I expect from working with a therapist?
Therapy provides a safe and confidential place to talk about
whatever you want. You have the opportunity to explore your personal
issues
in a way that does not typically happen in everyday interaction..
- Finding resolution to the issues or concerns that led you to
seek therapy
- Finding ways to cope with stress and anxiety
- Developing skills for improving your relationships
- Managing anger, depression, and other emotional pressure
- Getting "unstuck" from unhealthy patterns-breaking
old behaviors and develop new ones
- Discovering new ways to solve problems
Improving your self-esteem and boosting self-confidence
- Attaining a better understanding of yourself and your
personal goals and values
4. Will I have to talk about things that I don't want to?
While I may encourage you to talk about things that might
make you feel uncomfortable or are difficult, I will not try to
force you to discuss anything you don't want to. You always
get to choose what you are or are not willing to talk about.
5. How often
do I need to come in for therapy session?
How
long will therapy last?
I typically recommend
one session per week, especially in the beginning of therapy.
However,, this can always be adjusted
based on individual
needs. It is hard to predict the length of therapy due
to the
issues you may be working on. However, meaniful change
can often be accomplished
in 12-20 sessions.
6. How much do you charge for
therapy sessions?
I charge $80.00 for a 50 minute session.
7. Do you have a sliding
scale fee?
I block out a limited number of hors per month
for clients with a limited income. You may inquire if these slots
are open and
negotiate a reduced fee.
8. What forms of payment
do you accept?
I accept insurance, cash, and payment through paypal.
