Pre-Nuptial & PreMarital

A prenuptial agreement or antenuptial agreement, commonly abbreviated to prenup, is a contract entered into by two people prior to marriage or civil union. The content of a prenuptial agreement can vary widely, but commonly includes provisions for the division of property should the couple divorce and any rights to spousal support during or after the dissolution of marriage.

There are two types of prenups: marriage contract for people who are married or about to be married, and cohabitation agreements for unmarried couples.

Premarital Therapy at Vital Options focuses on helping the two individuals in a couple lay lay a solid foundation for a long-term commitment. We offer a series of 5 - 7 sessions.

  1. A review and discussion of individual traits. Each individual's personality traits, attitudes, beliefs, and emotional health are explored, as well as their values
  2. A review and discussion of a couple’s communication style, conflict resolution skills, degree of acquaintance, and similarity between values and goals.
  3. A review and discussion of each person’s family background, the quality of each individual’s parents’ marriage, the quality of the family relationship, the attitude of family and friends regarding the relationship, previous marriages or long-term relationships, and children if involved.

Premarital Assessment Questionnaires (PAQ) will be initially used to start the basis for therapy.
